Young Artist Program 2024

The International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia is proud to announce its 2024 Program!

The magical city of Morelia offers a summer you will never forget in your life. This baroque city built in the 16th century is an outstanding example of  architectural beauty, Mexican culture, and culinary adventures.

The International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia was founded in YEAR and it has become a great platform for artists, as our very well accomplished mission is making you stand out and show your potential to the world so you can create better opportunities for yourself and your future.

This year you will have the opportunity to perform in fully staged opera productions of Puccini's La Rondine and Bizet's Carmen, as well as an intimate production of Handel's Giulio Cesare, and our gala with piano in a very special venue. You will have access to exceptional voice lessons and coaching with acclaimed teachers and mentors. All the roles for the three operas are open at the moment.

 

In 2024 we are pleased to offer opportunities in three exciting cities, Morelia and Monterrey in México, and Belgrade in Serbia. Please see details for each of the programs below.

 

Application Process

Please complete the online application to begin the process. You will be asked to upload a headshot, bio/resume, and a video of your audition piece.

 

Applicants will also need to pay the $35 application fee. Instructions for doing so are available within the application form. Please note that your application is not considered complete until the application fee has been paid.

Payment Process

A payment of $1000 USD will be required by January 10, 2024 to secure your role. Remaining payments may be made over time.

Monterrey, México

May 27–June 8, 2024​

 

Full production package: $2500 USD  (two weeks)

  • Participation in one of the productions:

    • Participation in full production of Gianni Schicchi (G. Puccini) with orchestra TBD​

    • Participation in full production of Suor Angelica (G. Puccini) with orchestra TBD

  • 1 weekly singing lesson

  • Master class

  • Opera gala with orchestra TBD

  • Mini concerts with piano

  • Hotel with breakfast included in double rooms in Monterrey, México

Morelia, México

June 9–30, 2024

Full Production package: $3500 USD  (three weeks)

  • Participation in one of the productions:

    • The Wedding / Sbadva by Ana Sokolović  (acappella)

  • 1 weekly singing lesson

  • Mini concerts with piano

  • Hotel with breakfast included in double rooms in Morelia, Mexico. 

Belgrade, Serbia

August 11–31, 2024

Additional Information

Combination packages

Participants interested in participating in more than one city receive a discount on additional locations.

 

Combination discounts apply as follows:

  • Morelia and Serbia (three week programs) $500 USD on each site

  • Monterrey (two week program ) $250 USD on Morelia and Monterrey sites

 

For example, the fee for participation in both the Morelia and Serbia locations would be $6000 USD (instead of the standard $7000.)

Oyentes package ($5000 MXN)

For artists who merely want to learn by observation. This two-week package includes:​

  • ​​Attendance at all rehearsals, lessons, recitals, and masterclasses (no participation)

  • ​Does not include hotel or breakfast

 

​Alternates/Covers

Alternates may be invited to perform their role in the main stage productions at the discretion of the directors, if there is an opening in the main cast.

 

Role Study

Artists will be able to study a role by attending the main cast’s coachings and rehearsals for that role. No individual coachings nor performances for that role will be included for the role study participants.
