A Grateful Goodbye

After nine years of dedication and hard work, we regret to inform you that ISOFOM will cease operations permanently.

We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to all who have been part of this project:

  • To the teachers, for their passion and commitment to teaching
  • To the collaborators, for their constant support and dedication
  • And to the students, for their enthusiasm, trust, and for allowing us to accompany their artistic growth

During these years, we worked together with our founder to create a space for learning and development for young singers, both national and international. Although this is a difficult moment, we feel deeply proud of what we accomplished together.

The International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia (ISOFOM) had a significant impact on the musical community of Morelia. Over its nine years, it brought together musicians from around the world to share their passion for opera and provided a platform for young singers and musicians to develop their skills before international audiences.

ISOFOM helped promote opera in Mexico and fostered appreciation for this musical genre in the region.

We sincerely thank all those who were part of the ISOFOM family. We are deeply saddened by the loss of our president and founder, Juan del Bosco. His legacy lives on in the heart of every person who took part in this project, and we deeply value everything he built with dedication, care, and vision.

For this reason, after a period of reflection, we believe that his passing also marks the closure of ISOFOM, a project he created with such effort and love.

Thank you for your support and expressions of sympathy.

With gratitude and respect,

The ISOFOM Team

The mission of the International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia (ISOFOM) is to bridge cultures and communities through world class vocal training and performance. ISOFOM brings together musicians from cross cultural worlds to create, perform and grow together through opera. Young Artists and Opera Studio members train in a safe and challenging environment as they embark on their professional careers, providing them with extensive practical training for their artistic, profesional, and personal growth.

ISOFOM partners with the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolas de Hidalgo through their "Escuela Popular de Bellas Artes" to bring together musicians in both a full-scale opera production and the ISOFOM Gala. This partnership is crucial for our festival.

ISOFOM also partners with the 200 plus year old Conservatorio de las Rosas. Students from the Conservatorio join both the ISOFOM orchestra and ISOFOM singers for both of these awe-inspiring productions. Also, this year we are working hand by hand with Facultad de Música, Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León.

Acclaimed singers, conductors, coaches, casting and stage directors—we have gather the wisest variety of artists for our faculty, all of them at the top of their game in any field, to ensure that the learning experience will be invaluable to all of you, and we are confident that the memories and teachings of this program will be cherished and treasured by you for the rest of your lives.

Due to the death of president/founder Juan del Bosco, the festival is currently on hiatus while we regroup and plan for the future.
